Annual wildflower with pretty pink flowers on sprawling stems which scramble among other plants, leaving glimpses of pink very nice. Pinnate leaves. Flowers May to September. Found in grassland in the wild and hedgerows. Stems can reach up to 4 ft long.
Common Vetch used to be grown as a fodder crop in the past, for hay, and as a soil improvement crop. If sown for hay it is usually sown with a grain crop in order that it can be supported by it. Dingy Skipper butterflies like the flowers.
Plant in sun and deadhead regularly to promote more flowers.
