Foxglove, Apricot (digitalis) 
   

B.  Apricot-pink floewrs on short, sturdy stems.  Ht 2 ft (60 cm) so good for exposed areas.  Flowers all summer. Sun or partial shade.  Bee plant.

Globe Thistle (echinops ritro) 
   

P.  Large bristly leaves and tall, thick stems topped by blue globular flowerheads.  Ht about 5 ft.  Very striking plant.

Goats Rue (galega officinalis) 
   

HP.  WF.  Ht 2 - 5 ft (60 - 152 cm).  Bright green foliage and small pea-like mauve flowers.  Been used in the past to treat plague.  Goat's Rue tea can be used to treat rheumatism, bladder problems and coughs.  Flowers June to September.



Hare's Tail Grass (lagurus ovatus) 
   

A.  Thin stems with fluffy, bunny tails flowerheads.  Looks good at front of border.

Helenium hoopesii 
   

P.  Bright yellow inverted daisy flowers.  Ht 60 cm.  Flowers May to June.  Lance shaped leaves.

Hollyhock "Happy Lights" 
   

B.  Ht 6 - 6.5 ft.  SAtrong stems with a variety of coloured flowers.  Most rust-resistent Hollyhock.

B.  Ht 4 - 6 ft.  Large maroon flowers.

Hollyhock (althaea rosea) 
   

Tall stately biennial plants producing huge single flowers in different colours.  Traditional cottage garden plant with some medicinal uses.

Jacob's Ladder (polemonium caeruleum) 
   

P.  H.  WF.  Beautiful lilac or white flowers and fern-like leaves.  Forms a good-sized clump.  Ht about 2 ft (60 cm).  Flowers June to August.  Plant in sun or shade.  Prefers damp soil.
