DROPWORT (FILIPENDULA HEXAPETALA)

Perennial wildflower found on grassland and chalk. Fern-like foliage and loose panicles of pink-tinged, creamy white flowers from June to August. Height to 3 ft (90 cm). Closely related to Meadowsweet. Found in gravely, chalky soils. Grows well on heavy clay soil.

Tuberous roots are edible but bitter. Powdered Dropwort roots, or used in decoction, were used to treat kidney problems, breathlessness, wheezing, sore throats and congestion.
